Why Get Tested?
To help evaluate a person’s immune system status; to detect and monitor an excess or deficiency in one or more of the immunoglobulin classes (IgG, IgA, and IgM).
When to Get Tested?
When you have recurrent infections and/or chronic diarrhea; when your health practitioner suspects an immunoglobulin deficiency; periodically to monitor a condition that affects immunoglobulin levels that may be genetic or acquired (HIV/AIDS, multiple myeloma).
Sample Required?
A blood sample drawn from a vein in your arm; sometimes a cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) or saliva sample.
